05.15-FOXY PUSHING WEIGHT
Foxy Brown recently appeared on the Monique Show and some viewers were surprised by her apparent weight gain. Foxy addressed the talk using twitter, writing, "Just recently I gained a few lbs! How? (Curry crab & dumplings, a broken heart, lil baby weight) I'm naturally slim so I said gimme a month!" The talk of "baby wieght" has got the Internet going crazy saying that she must be pregnant. Could be - but we doubt it - unless she is going to give birth in a month??? :)

05.14-FOXY BROWN TALKS ON LOSING HER HEARING

Foxy Brown hit the Monique Show alongside Pam Grier to talk on how she got her name and also about waking up to find she had lost her hearing. Foxy revealed, "I was 14, 15-years-old, Jay-Z and I were in the studio and we had this hit record. Jay-Z's like, 'What's your name gonna be?' And I'm like, 'I don't know, I don't know what to say...what to say.' But I've always been a fan of Pam so they came out with, why don't you say Coffee or Friday Foster or Sheba Baby...but I said, no baby. It's gotta be Foxy Brown, the one and only!" On her hearing Foxy explained, "It was 100 percent gone overnight. They don't even know why...Wednesday night [in 2005], I was up shooting the cover of XXL with Jay-Z, Kanye and LeBron and Thursday morning I woke up and couldn't hear anything. I was completely deaf, 100 percent….I just knew that God had got me then. Because I kept running and dodging him and he kept giving me signs and little warnings, and they say God will get you first in private and if he don't get you then, then he'll get you in public." Good to see she has recovered.  Foxy needs to get it together, and stop trying to live off of past glory...

05.14-SCARFACE QUESTIONS HIP-HOP HONORS

Scarface has called out VH1's 'Hip-Hop Honors' and their decision to dedicate it to the "Dirty South." You might think that Scarface, as a flag-bearer of Southern Hip-Hop would be happy with the recognition, but he raises a few interesting points. Scarface explained, "I was nominated [to be honored at the Dirty South Hip Hop Honors] but I declined to accept because I don’t wanna be classified as just 'Dirty South.' I’m Hip Hop, man. I’m not going because I feel slighted. Even though it was a nice gesture, I feel like it’s just a pacifier. They’re like, 'Let’s give these ni**as down there a pacifier so they can stop feeling left out. We’ll make Luke and all these ni**as down there look funny,' you know? 'Let’s put a plate of fried chicken and some watermelon and let’s just do some ni**a-ass sh*t.' (laughs) Quote, end quote. 'Some ni**a-ass sh*t.' Fried chicken and watermelon. 'Sh*t, the faster we get this over with, the better.' Honoring [Uncle] Luke and James [Prince] and [Master] P and Timbaland and JD and Dungeon Family is a good thing. I don’t wanna fu*k their Honors up. They helped lay the foundation. More power to ‘em. I respect what they do and I respect what they’ve done for Hip Hop, but to put us in a category is disrespectful. Why would you categorize us as 'Dirty South'? Why can’t you just honor some muthafu*kers from down here and leave it like that? You ain’t gotta make us look extra country. We know where we’re from and we know where you’re from. We know where Hip Hop came from, man. We’re cool with that. I’m proud to be from Houston but don’t make a mockery of my accomplishments. We’re not 'dirty' down here in the South anyway. This sh*t down here probably cleaner than the rest of the country, cause we got grandmas down here. Our grandmas don’t play that sh*t. I come from the era when New York and L.A. had the only Hip Hop, and they weren’t fu*kin’ with us, at all. If you think I’m lyin’, check the history of Hip Hop. Try to pull up some footage from the 1989/1990 New Music Seminar. That’s what I base my whole fu*kin’ life on: the New Music Seminar 1989/1990. They was NOT fu*kin’ with us. We sold records all over the fu*kin’ country and New York made a mockery of it. They fu*kin’ booed the Geto Boys in New York. They sure did. Everybody throws up a fu*kin’ smokescreen to make the picture look how they want it to look, but I know sh*t stank. I ain’t no goddamn fool. I was there in the beginning. We were fighting the power for real. Our raps were considered negative rap, and we got a lot of fu*kin’ flak behind that shit. And we were just telling the truth. We were under immense scrutiny, from politicians to radio stations to the media. Luke got up there talkin’ about 'Pop That Pu$$y' and had naked hoes on the stage; they were going to jail and sh*t. The Geto Boys were talkin’ this politicially-charged, racist-a*s, system-ran, gangsta-a*s dope-dealing whoopin’-a*s shit, and it wasn’t accepted in New York." Does he have a point?  Face is most definitely a lyricist - top 10.  Period.

05.14-KAY SLAY AND JAY ELECTRONICA DEBATE N.Y. VS THE SOUTH

New York's DJ Kay Slay and rapper Jay Electronica got into a debate over an alleged New York bias against Hip-Hop from the South. Jay Electronica started the heated exchange when he revealed how, when he was younger, he became angered by comments made by Rza of Wu-Tang Clan that Southern rappers were less intelligent than their New York counterparts and were making a mockery of Hip-Hop culture. Jay revealed, "Peace on RZA, that’s my brother, RZA had a great effect on me via the Wu Tang Clan and the music he did, I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for the RZA and the Wu. But also RZA you said some crazy wild shit, and if you would have seen me at that time we might have had a physical altercation." However it was when Jay said that there were several emcees from the South that would "burn n***as" from New York that Kay Slay got involved. The New York DJ hit back via Twitter, "This Jay Electronica dude is getting real disrespectful towards New York n***as these days. If he hates us so f*cking much why does he rap like us?" adding, "His f*cking interview just made my blood boil…Can’t f**k with sun no more." Jay Electronica then responded, "I’m not rhyming like nobody, we all got influences. And no disrespect, I love Kay Slay. When I say New York n***as was dissing us and talking crazy s**tabout us; I’m not being hypothetical, I’m talking about what I experienced…I was real clear in the interview I have super respect for RZA. If it wasn’t for Wu, Nas, BIG, Jeru, Primo, by the way Primo’s from Texas, if it wasn’t for all these people I wouldn’t be the person I am today." He continued, "Check me on the facts, is what I’m saying true or false? My name is Jaree Understanding Allah. I’m on a mission from Almighty God. I ain’t on a mission from Kay Slay or Funk Flex…Nowadays it’s a shortage of men, n***as is acting like faggots. n***as get sensitive when you speak how you really feel with conviction." Kay Slay then hit the airwaves on his Hot 97 show to exclaim, "What happened in the past happened and the South is eating now and you got on. Why you keep bringing up old foolishness and keep throwing New York up?" Kay Slay continued, "I’m taking offense because when Ludacris came around before his first album dropped, he came to my crib to freestyle. T.I., when he first came out, came to my crib to freestyle; he asked me to bring him on BET his first time around. Eightball’s first time, when he came to New York, I took him through Harlem. You’re using these people like no one in New York supported the South and everybody was dogging them [and] that never was the case." Kay Slay said Jay owed New York’s Hip-Hop scene an explanation, arguing that his current residence in Brooklyn did not entitle him to call out the city, "If I go in the South, Midwest, or West Coast talking crazy and somebody asks yo what you meant by that, yeah I do owe an explanation…This is our stopping ground, you’re a guest here! We need lyricists, [and] I respect you as that. But the way you was talking and I seen your aggression, son I’m aggressive, too! And I’m true and living as well, I got knowledge of self, so I ain’t no savage…You eating now dog, let it go. This is New York, man…I can name 5 rappers from the street that I’ll put on stage with anybody you bring to the table, and I’ll put my bread up, son."   Can you blame Jay for being defensive, though, we all have done it when it comes to some southern rappers...Jay is one of the illest out TODAY!  Though he may have been influenced heavily by a lot of the NY cats like Nas, he is makin' those songs that relate to this era.  He can be honest about how he feels if he want to.  Kay needs to focus on gettin' Papoose a hit.

05.14- BOW WOW DENIES SEX TWEET

Bow Wow has come out to deny that he ever sent a Tweet asking for sex. The controversy hit earlier this week after a twitter message hit the Internet that seemed to contradict statements made by the rapper that he would never pay for sex. Bow Wow responded, "The tweet that was posted was photo shopped. Just recently I did an interview on how I never pay for sex [Ozone's Sex issue], so I guess someone felt the need to write some bogus tweet before my original tweet. I have damn near have 500,000 followers on Twitter. If I were to tweet such foolishness it would have been all over Twitter in a matter of seconds. I don’t know why people feel the need to try to s**t on my name or what I represent. All I want to do is please my fans, make more millions, make sure my family is straight and have fun."  Is it us, or does Bow need to go somewhere and try to figure out how to be relevant again?
