05.20-HALLE BERRY FACING CUSTODY BATTLE

Reports are suggesting that Halle Berry's split from Gabriel Aubry may not be as amicable as first suggested. Apparently Gabriel has been having a tough time in seeing daughter Nahla and now may seek permanent custody. Things heated up after Halle revealed plans to travel to South Africa for three months to shoot for a new movie, a source close to the coule revealed, "It’s been pretty difficult for Gabriel to see Nahla the last few weeks he’s really getting sick of it and it’s getting to the point where he is seriously considering his options regarding pursuing permanent custody. He refuses to give up rights to his daughter, he loves her more than anything and is determined to be a regular, full time fixture in her life." The source continued, "The latest issue is that Halle is due to move to South Africa during July, August and September to work on a movie and she wants to take Nahla with her full time. That would mean Gabriel not seeing his daughter for three whole months and there’s no way he’s going to allow that." The argument looks to end in stalemate as neither party seems willing to budge on the issue, "Gabriel requested that he be allowed to keep Nahla with him in Los Angeles but Halle wouldn’t let that happen, so the two reached a total stalemate and it started getting nasty, with both of them looking into entering a legal battle." However the source did suggest that there may be a solution on the cards, "In the end they reached an agreement. Basically Halle is going to pay Gabriel to be a kind of full time nanny and to come to South Africa for the three months she’s there, and to be Nahla’s full-time caregiver. Halle has a huge house that’s being rented for her and she and Gabriel are going to try to live under the same roof and get along for the sake of Nahla. Heaven only knows how that’s going to work out, as they haven’t been on the best of terms lately, but they do both love their daughter so maybe they can make it work. Halle has got a contingency plan though. If it doesn’t work out with them both living in the same property, she has agreed to rent a house for Gabriel near where she will be staying, and then he gets to look after Nahla all day while she’s working, and return to his place at night. It’s certainly not a conventional solution, but who knows, maybe it will work for them. One thing is for certain though – this definitely is not any kind of attempt at reconciliation. It is definitely 100% over between these two, and if it wasn’t for the fact of sharing a child together they would quite happily never see each other again."

05.19-MASHONDA TAKING SWIZZ TO COURT

Swizz Beatz' ex-wife Mashonda Dean is taking the producer to court in order to seek child support payments as he prepares to marry singer Alicia Keys. With rumors spreading that Alicia is pregnant by Swizz, the producer has some unfinished business with his other family. R&B singer Mashonda has field papers in Manhattan Supreme Court, saying Swizz owes her $334,000 in missed payments. "I so much wanted both of us to get on with our lives and maintain our respect for one another, but he now shows that his priorities and sense of responsibility are screwed up," Mashonda said. Dean’s lawyer, Bernard Clair, called the nonpayment "particularly troubling" in light of reports that Beatz bought a seven-carat engagement ring for Alicia Keys earlier this year and that they’re moving into a $14.5 million duplex penthouse on Crosby Street. However, Beatz said his ex’s allegations that he owes $325,000 in equitable distribution and $9,000 in alimony and child support are "inaccurate" and "overblown," adding that he’s gone "above and beyond" to provide for her and their son, Kasseem Jr., 13. Swizz asserted that he’d agreed to pay Mashonda more than the judge required and much more than his lawyer recommended - even signing court papers sayiing that he was going against his attorney’s advice. Swizz explained, "I gave over what the judge was recommending to give. I gave her $700,000 up front, because I thought $200,000 wasn’t enough for what she wanted to do. I still get spit in my face for it." Swizz added that the next set of payments had been ready to go when he discovered "she’d been selling all my stuff out of my house." Mashonda's lawyer countered that the only items his client sold were some remote-controlled vehicles that Swizz had left behind after movers removed his belongings.  Love stinks.

05.19-WYCLEF TREATS INJURED HAITIAN CHILDREN

Wyclef showed his heart when he took three Haitian girls on a $1,000 each shopping spree in KMart. The three girls lost limbs in the Haitian Earthquake but that did not stop them from enjoying themselves as Wyclef and his Yele Haiti charity treated them to clothing, shoes, make-up and electronic goods. Wyclef explained, "When you come from a country where you make $1 a day, giving them $1,000 is like giving them $10,000," adding, "They need to know there are people like them and they're normal, today they're not thinking, 'I don't have a leg.' They're just being kids and they're happy." Following the new York shopping spree the children were all due to be fitted with prosthetic limbs and treated for free at Shriners Hospital For Children in Philadelphia.
