06.17-EMINEM'S DRUG OVERDOSE

Eminem revealed that his road to recovery from his well-documented drug abuse problems began following a near-fatal overdose. The Detroit MC revealed, "Not to make this moment intense, but I almost died," adding, "I was a couple of hours away from death, I overdosed and almost died." We're glad to see he is on the way back up again - a mic is a terrible thing to waste...

06.17-FAT JOE DISSED BY EX-TERROR SQUAD MC

Ex-Terror Squad rapper Tony Sunshine has hit out at Fat Joe in the light of Joe's financial problems - once again opening the question that he stole from his cohorts, including the late Big Pun. Tony Sunshine released a video going at Fat Joe, in which he said, "Son, what happened to all that bread you stole B., you aint flip that?" referring to claims that Joe stole royalties from the late Big Pun and other members of The Terror Squad. Tony Sunshine went on to accuse Fat Joe of attempting to blackball him from the industry, saying, "You were supposed to be my boy son, but you lied. You was supposed to be 100." Will Joe respond? Do we care?  Yeah, God has Joe if he's done all of his old crew members wrong...

06.17-T.I. ADDRESSES INFORMANT RUMORS

T.I. has addressed speculation that he was handed a lighter sentence for his recent gun charges due to him acting as a police informant. The rapper was handed one year and one day in jail in March 2009 for felony weapons charges after prosecutors gave him a plea deal. He was also told to pay a $100,000 fine and complete 1,500 hours of community service. This relatively light sentence came despite him being a convicted felon. However, T.I. says that he allowed "certain agreements" because of his helpful additions to society. The rapper revealed, "What people don't take into consideration is the reason that I was eligible for certain agreements that they weren't eligible for was because I made myself a useful member of society…Most motherf*ckers catch cases and get time. My n*gga, you wasn't doing sh*t when you was out here, so wasn't no reason for them to keep you out here." T.I. went on to speak on what he calls the "G Code" and how those who are making allegations are in violation of it, "Please understand the G code that I learned from, if you speak out your mouth that a motherf*cker is telling on somebody and you can't come with indisputable, irrefutable facts to support that statement, that makes you the sucker. You are now in violation of the G code. And there ain't nobody, nowhere in naan jail sayin' I was on they paperwork." T.I. then took a brief moment to build up jis 'King Of The South' status, "King Of The South did not exist before me. The term cannot be passed along until I choose to pass it along…"

06.16-HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2PAC

June 16th would have been the 39th birthday of rapper Tupac Shakur. Sadly he was taken from the world in a still-unsolved murder in 1996. We wonder where he would have been by now had he have lived and how hip-hop in general would have been different with his continued influence. Tupac's older brother Mopreme Shakur spoke about his brother's influence, "Makavelli lives. We're celebrating my baby brother and the King of Rap's birthday once again. As we move forward in the rap game, it's really important that we take time out to remember those that put it down before us and gave us the foundation for what we have today." R.I.P. 2Pac.  Happy Birthday, Pac - we miss you!  Now MTV had better run his videos like they do on Biggie's birthday!

06.16-DRAKE SHUT DOWN IN NEW YORK

Over 15, 000 people were drawn to the Paper’s Sounds Like Paper concert series in New York where Drake was set to perform at a free concert. However the NYCPD shut the show down before it began due to safety concerns. Despite the lack of a show Drake was keen to show love to his fans, saying, "I am humbled by the crowd that showed up in support of my performance and the release of 'Thank Me Later'," adding, "I love performing for my fans but unfortunately the show was canceled by the NYPD due to over crowding, leaving me without the chance to give my fans a real show."
