11/20-AL QAEDA MAKIN' THREATS TO OBAMA

(CNN) -- Al Qaeda's No. 2 leader is heard in a Web posting Wednesday warning President-elect Barack Obama that "a heavy legacy of failure and crimes awaits" him.

Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri mocked President-elect Barack Obama in an Internet message.

In the message, purportedly from Ayman al-Zawahiri, the speaker criticized Obama's foreign policy positions on Afghanistan and Israel and ridiculed the president-elect's worldview.

The speaker also said Obama was the "direct opposite of honorable black Americans" like Malcolm X, the fiery African-American Muslim activist from the 1950s and 1960s.

The posting, an 11 minute and 23 second audio message in Arabic with subtitles in English, appeared on the Web on Wednesday. Its authenticity cannot yet be confirmed.

It shows a graphic with the words "The departure of Bush and the arrival of Obama." That graphic also contains a still image of Malcolm X on a Muslim prayer rug in a mosque; images of Obama, wearing a Jewish skullcap, at the Western Wall in Jerusalem; and a picture of al-Zawahiri.

There are also archival videos in the message, including clips of speeches from Malcolm X.

"You have reached the position of president, and a heavy legacy of failure and crimes awaits you. A failure in Iraq to which you have admitted and a failure in Afghanistan to which the commanders of your army have admitted," the message said.

The speaker also said Obama's plan to pull troops from Iraq and send them to Afghanistan "is a policy which was destined for failure before it was born."

11/20-TACO BELL GETS GANGSTA ON 50
Lawyers for Taco Bell are coming back at 50 Cent following the rapper filing a $4 million federal lawsuit against the company for trademark infringement after he alleged they tried to use his name, without permission, to sell tacos.  This all stems back to June when President of Taco Bell, Greg Creed, wrote an open letter to 50, urging him to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent for one day adding that if 50 Cent then showed up at a drive-thru window and rapped his order, Creed would donate $10,000 to the rapper's favorite charity.  While Taco Bell argue they have freedom of speech on their side, as per the First Amendment, they also state that the offer stands.  However the chances of 50 taking it up are slim - especially given court filings on the part of Taco Bell.  The company have described 50 Cent to Manhattan Federal Court Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald as a "self-described former drug dealer and hustler" whose "gangsta rap" is associated with violent criminals.  They continued, "Jackson [50 Cent] has used his colorful past to cultivate a public image of belligerence and arrogance and has a well-publicized track record of making threats, starting feuds and filing lawsuits," adding, "At the same time, Jackson holds himself out as a giver to charity and one who wants to give back to his community. This lawsuit is another of Jackson's attempts to burnish his gangsta rapper persona by distorting beyond all recognition a bona fide, good faith offer that Taco Bell made to Jackson."  The company also responded to 50 Cent's jibe that when his legal team was through with Taco Bell, they'd change their logo to "We messed with the bull and got the horns," saying, "Jackson could have responded to Taco Bell's offer with a simple yes or no. Had he accepted the offer, Jackson, Taco Bell and the public all would have gained."  50 Cent's attorney, Peter Raymond, in return responded, "It makes me wonder why they would decide to use his name in their ad campaign if they think he's such a bad character."  Fair point Raymond.

11/19-T.I. IN COURT
T.I. is expected to testify in court as one of two men implicated in the murder of the rapper's childhood friend, Philant Johnson, went on trial in Cincinnati.  Police have spent nearly two years investigating a May 2006 chase and shootout that left Johnson dead and three other members of the Grand Hustle camp wounded.  The investigation finally lead to the arrest of 40-year-old Padron Thomas and 36-year-old Hosea Thomas.  It is Hosea, however, who faces charges including murder and felonious assault after his elder brother and two others, who were charged with federal gun crimes, spoke with officials to reveal Hosea as the killer.  Padron Thomas explained how he and his friends got inti an altercation with T.I. and his crew over gaining entry to the VIP area of Cincinnati's Club Ritz before the grand Hustle crew left in two vans.  It was then that Padron gave chase in a green Jeep Cherokee as Hosea fired shots at the vans one of which was described as a "horror scene" with blood and brain matter spattering the inside.  Padron also says that at least one member of T.I.'s crew returned fire.  The outcome of the trial is set to be decided on the basis of witness testimony with Hosea's lawyer, Charles Isaly, arguing that the court should be aware that the prosecution’s proposed witnesses will be looking to paint his client in a bad light in order to see their own sentences reduced.  Padron, meanwhile, has already secured a guarantee that he will not serve time as part of his plea as he faces manslaughter charges.

11/19-SEAN LEVERT'S DEATH MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY DENIAL OF MEDICATION

An extensive report has revealed how R&B singer Sean Levert's death may have been caused by a failure to let him take prescribed medication while incarcerated.  Here's the report:

'R&B singer Sean Levert entered the Cuyahoga County Jail on March 24, clutching the prescribed medication he took three times a day for anxiety.  Jail staff took the bottle of Xanax from him and failed to give him a single pill during the six days he was there, investigators said. When he told jail officials he needed the prescription medication, Levert, 39, was told he would have to wait nearly two weeks to see a doctor who would decide if he would get the pills.  He never saw the doctor. Instead, on March 30, jailers strapped Levert into a restraint chair, as he was fighting the monstrous visions in his head caused by withdrawal from the medication. Minutes later, the son of O'Jays star Eddie Levert stopped breathing. Doctors could not revive him.  On March 24, Levert was sentenced to nearly two years in prison for owing about $91,000 to three children he fathered before marrying 13 years ago. Levert surrendered a bottle of Xanax during booking. He took 2-milligram pills three times a day.  Levert and another inmate shared a cell built for one person. Levert was supposed to sleep on a mattress on the floor. He couldn't sleep that way, he said, so for three nights he tried to sleep sitting with his back against a wall, according to the reports.
On March 27, Levert told a corrections officer that he needed his medication. The officer contacted a nurse who said Levert would have to "wait like everyone else" to see a doctor. He was scheduled to see a doctor nearly two weeks later, on April 8.  The jail's manager of health care services, Christine Dubber, told investigators after the death that Levert's Xanax was taken because anxiety was not considered an urgent problem, like psychosis, schizophrenia or suicidal thoughts.  William Naber, an expert in corrections practices and law enforcement procedures, said it is standard practice for prisoners entering a jail with medication to undergo screening at the time of entry. "That to me would be a priority of medical clearance," he said. "Withdrawal complications from Xanax are well known."  Naber, a retired captain from the Sonoma County (Calif.) Sheriff's Office, said it is "extremely unusual for an inmate to go almost a week without prescription medication. "That's a medical malpractice issue, not a correctional issue," he said. The evening of March 29 marked the start of Levert's delusions. That night, Levert told his cellmate he heard a woman screaming outside the jail. He said she was threatening to kill a corrections officer. The cellmate told Levert he couldn't hear a woman screaming.  About 3:30 a.m. March 30, Levert told the cellmate he could hear his wife. She was telling him that their son just fell into the pool.  Levert became fearful and pushed a call button to summon a corrections officer. A short time later, a corrections officer and a nurse came to Levert's cell. He was crying.  They took him to a pod of cells reserved for inmates with mental health problems. He was not given his medication.  At 7:45 p.m. March 30, Levert told a sergeant that he had just seen a bad car crash. The sergeant reported the "hallucinative and delusional behavior" to a nurse, who took no action, according to the reports. Levert was pacing in his cell, acting bizarrely and yelling that his mother and his son were being killed.
Jail supervisor Michael McClelland allowed Levert to call his mother, but she didn't answer the phone. McClelland wrote in a report that a doctor would see Levert the next day.  Three hours later, Levert began shouting and pounding on the cell floor.  McClelland said Levert sounded like "there were three pitbulls in the room and he was fighting them off."  McClelland opened the cell door. Levert "shot into my arms. He didn't put up a fight," McClelland said. Levert was handcuffed and strapped into a restraint chair to prevent him from injuring himself.  In a videotape of Levert being placed in the chair, he repeatedly shouted, "No, no, no" and strained against the straps, but didn't fight the jailers. His breathing was labored. With his eyes squeezed shut, he shouted, "She did it. She did it. She killed my mother." He stopped shouting at 10:57 p.m., seemingly out of breath. Then the video camera was turned off.  Nurse Jane Lawrence checked to make sure the restraint straps around Levert's wrists, ankles and shoulders weren't too tight. The nurse called the jail's psychiatrist, described Levert's condition and told the doctor Levert had previously been taking Xanax.  She was told to give Levert an injection that contained three drugs, Benadryl, Ativan and Haldol, to calm him.  The nurse told McClelland she wanted to know more about Levert's medical history before she gave him the shot. She called Levert's mother.  The reports show she and McClelland spoke to Levert's mother for five to seven minutes.  McClelland assured Martha Levert, "Your son is fine. He's not in any danger of hurting himself or anybody else. Yes, we have him restrained right now because he lost his cool in that cell quite a bit. He just went a little wild. We can't allow him to hurt himself, but he's safe right now and we'll be watching him very closely tonight."  McClelland hung up the phone and went to check on Levert, who was no longer shouting. He found Levert not breathing.  Paramedics already entering the jail on an unrelated call were instead sent to Levert. His heart stopped beating on the way to St. Vincent Charity Hospital. He arrived at 11:42 p.m. Doctors tried to restart his heart, but pronounced him dead at 11:57 p.m. March 30.  Cuyahoga County Coroner Frank Miller ruled Levert died of complications of sarcoidosis, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and withdrawal from Xanax.

Miller said withdrawal from Xanax is severe and can cause biological symptoms as well as panic, anxiety, emotional instability and hallucinations.  In a taped interview, McClelland told investigators, "The guilt has just been overwhelming. I want to tell [Levert's mother] how sorry I am that that happened."'

11/19-BOW WOW ADDRESSES SUPERHEAD BABY RUMORS

While it has been suggested that Karrine 'Superhead' Steffans is pregnant with rapper Bow Wow's child the MC has addressed the runmors in a song.  The freestyle, 'On My Mama' has Bow Wow rapping that he is NOT the father as he claims he used protection, "I hear these rumors about Superhead, Boy y'all funny, I wrapped it up like a Christmas gift, I ain't no dummy."  As we all know, rap songs are always 100% honest and truthful - so that's that cleared up then, right?

Who cares...he's not a dummy? Right?  Because he shouldn't have went up in that at all!

11/19-SUGE LOSES HIS STUD
While he continues to face legal drama Suge Knight is claiming that he had a diamond stud earring stolen by authorities while he was in custody.  While serving time in 2005 Suge was moved from Barstow police custody to the West Valley Detention Center and then to the California Institution for Men and it was during these moves that Suge contends the stud was stolen.  This is the second stud Suge has had nabbed as he recently filed a lawsuit against Kanye West, blaming him for the theft of a $135,000 earring which was taken as Suge was prone bleeding after being shot at a Kanye hosted party in 2005.  Seems that '05 was not a good year for Suge and his earrings.

11/19-MICHAEL JACKSON TOO SICK TO TRAVEL TO TRIAL

An attorney for Michael Jackson has said that the singer is too sick to travel to London and face trial in a case that alleges he owes around $7 million to an Arab sheik.  The sheik's lawyer, Bankim Thanki, said that the evidence produced by Jackson's team was "very unsatisfactory" and could be treated with a bandage "if the diagnosis is positive," adding, "It’s not the first time a sick note has been presented by Mr. Jackson."  More details of the case can be seen in yesterday's news - but we want to know what the apparent illness could be...  Any ideas?

Michael needs prayer, man!

11/18-MORE LEGAL DRAMA FOR MICHAEL JACKSON
Michael Jackson is in bother with a Bahrainian Prince after it is claimed he reneged on a record deal with the Arabian Sheik, despite taking money including $35,000 to pay utility bills at Neverland and $350,000 for a European jaunt for Jackson and his entourage.  However, while Jackson is said to have failed to make good on promises of recordings, a book and a musical as contractually promised, the king of pop says the money he received was a gift.  Jackson added that the 33-year-old sheikh exercised "undue influence" over him during a vulnerable period.  The singer's lawyers are expected to argue that Jackson should be allowed to testify via video link.  Sheik Al Khalifa reached out to Jackson while he was on trial on child-molestation charges, and the the prince's lawyer, Bankim Thanki, revealed the pair enjoyed a "close personal relationship."  Thanki also revealed, "Sheikh Abdulla began to support Mr. Jackson financially after 2005 when it became clear that Mr. Jackson was in very serious financial difficulties, much to Sheikh Abdulla's surprise."  The sheik paid Jackson's legal bills and moved him to Bahrain for a few months in 2005 following the singer's acquittal.  Al Khalifa had written two songs for Jackson, to be released as charity singles to raise funds for victims of 2004's tsunami and Hurricane Katrina, portions of which were played to the court during the hearing.  Michael Jackson is said to still be in financial trouble after he gave up the deeds to his Neverland ranch.

11/18-DAMON DASH TELLING TALES
As Damon Dash experiences an alleged financial meltdown perhaps he can look for a boost with a tell-all book.  The Roc-A-Fella co-founder has spoken out on how Jay-Z and Kanye West have a slight beef dating back to 2003. Dash revealed that Kanye took umbrage after Jay-Z failed to "knight" the up and coming Kanye with a chain at a Chicago show.  Dash explained, "This n*gga [Kanye] was like, 'Wow. [Jay-Z] ain't going to give me the chain.  I had to take off my chain and give it to him, and I was heated.  I had the real canary diamonds.  That sh*t cost $40,000!  I told Kanye, 'Yo, you got to give that back when we get off this stage!'"  But Dame said that this apparent slight lead to a situation whereby, "Kanye hated Jay-Z."  Unsurprisingly Kanye's camp have come out to say that the story is "ridiculous and totally false."  While other sources allege that Dash dropped the story to help hype his latest protege, Jim Jones, in the light of the sour ending of his relationship with Hova, saying, "This is sad, Damon does this every time he's promoting an artist. He just makes things up."  A source discredited Dash's talk of a fued between Jay-Z and Kanye, "They're both on [Def Jam], they're friends and always have been."

11/17-KANYE TALKS ON UK PAPARAZZI ARREST
Kanye West has come out with regards to his recent arrest after he assaulted a photographer in Newcastle, England.  Kanye explained (sorry about the caps - seems Kanye was angry?):

"HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED…WHEN I LEFT THE CLUB, I WAS ENCOUNTERED BY A THIRSTY PAPARAZZI AS USUAL. HE FELT HE HAD MORE RIGHTS TO MY SPACE THAN ME, SO I PUT MY HAND UP TO PREVENT HIM FROM TAKING MY IMAGE. I DIDN’T ASSAULT HIM BUT MERELY PUTTING MY HAND UP TO COVER HIS LENS. MY SECURITY YELLED, “GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM.” I GUESS IN ALL THE COMMOTION THE CAMERA SCRAPED HIS NOSE.

"THREE HOURS LATER I GET A KNOCK AT MY HOTEL DOOR. THERE WERE FIVE POLICE OFFICERS IN FRONT OF MY ROOM AND I HAD NO IDEA WHY. I HAD MY SECURITY GO SPEAK WITH THEM. THE COPS WERE VERY CORDIAL BUT TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ARREST ME BECAUSE A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THAT WAS THE BOGUS PART. THEY PLACED ME IN HANDCUFFS AND DROVE ME TO THE STATION. THEY SPOKE ABOUT HOW THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY A PUBLICITY STUNT BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER BUT THEY STILL HAD TO GO THOUGH THE MOTIONS. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE HOTEL THERE WERE PAPARAZZI HANGING OVER THE BRIDGE ABOVE THE HOTEL TRYING TO GET A SHOT OF ME GETTING OUT THE POLICE VAN. EVEN THOUGH I WASN’T CHARGED, THE DAMAGE WAS DONE. SURE ENOUGH THE NEXT MORNING, PLASTERED ACROSS EVERY MEDIA OUTLET… KANYE GETS ARRESTED. IT DIDN’T MATTER THAT I WASN’T CHARGED OR THE FACT THAT I HADN’T ASSAULTED ANYONE. ALL THAT MATTERED WAS THAT I WAS ARRESTED."

Interesting one this - as the photographer recently spoke to a UK radio station to give his side of the story, saying that he felt Kanye over-reacted.  The photographer says he was the only one on the scene and felt that given the situation was certainly calmer than being surrounded by the media as he would have been in London, for example, Kanye could have simply had a coupole of pictures taken and moved on.  It depends on your take ont e whole thing really, should people like Kanye expect to deal with a level of media intrusion commensurate with their fame?

11/17-COMEDIAN, WANDA SYKES ADMITS TO BEING GAY

Comic Wanda Sykes has come out.

She says the passage of Proposition 8 - a same-sex marriage ban in California - has led to her be more outspoken about her sexual orientation.

"You know, I don't really talk about my sexual orientation. I didn't feel like I had to. I was just living my life, not necessarily in the closet, but I was living my life," she said at a gay rights rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, The Associated Press reports.

"Everybody that knows me personally they know I'm gay. But that's the way people should be able to live their lives," she said.

The New Adventures of Old Christine actress said Prop 8 made her feel like she was "attacked."

"Now, I gotta get in their face," Sykes said. "I'm proud to be a woman. I'm proud to be a black woman, and I'm proud to be gay."

11/14-ODB LEGACY LIVES ON
With an unauthorized book set for release detailing the troubled life of late-Wu-Tang Clan member Ol' Dirty Bastard his mother, Cherry Jones, has come out to speak on the rapper's legacy.  Speaking on the forthcoming book Cherry explained, "After my son passed, this author [Jaime Lowe], who knew my son for only a few hours, decided to write a book and asked [us, his family] to take part in it.  We declined and asked that she not write about any of the interview that was not published in the [Village] Voice. I am asking all of Dirty's fans to boycott this book as none of the proceeds are going to the children and this author’s motives and intention seems to be in the vein of disgracing my son’s legacy.”  Meanwhile reports have surfaced saying that ODB's many children had not been financially supported since he passed away, but Cherry denies that this is the whole picture.  She says that poor money management on the part of the rap star's wife, Icelene, is to blame.  Speaking out, Cherry Jones said, "My son loved every single one of his children and every single one of their mothers and provided for them all the best he could when he was alive,” continuing, “My son was an extremely generous soul. I am upset by the way the other children Rusty had fathered and cherished are not being taken care of properly. I am also outraged that it appears Icelene has been diverting money away from the other children and taking out personal loans against estate assets. ” Cherry also argued that Icelene had blocked the release of her son's final album which was recorded for Roc-A-Fella records around the time of his death and is now set to see light via Koch records.  The proceeds from the album would go to the rapper's estate and see funds distributed to all of his children.  Ol' Dirty Bastard, who had been complaining of chest pains, was pronounced dead at 6:30 pm on November 13, 2004, approximately one hour after collapsing at the old Wu-Tan Clan studio on West 34th Street in New York City.  The autopsy report said he had suffered an accidental overdose due to a lethal mixture of cocaine and the prescription painkiller Tramadol. He would have turned 40 on November 13th this year.

11/14-DAMON DASH ON THE ROCKS?
Roc-A-Fella co-founder Damon Dash is said to be hitting hard times financially after a fiscal meltdown that seems a long way off from his days living the high-life.  Having sold his share in Rocawear to Jay-Z for $20 million back in 2005 it seems that Dash has since seen his money dwindle as he accuses a former accountant of ripping him off for millions of dollars.  Dash has just had his Chevrlet Tahoe siezed under a Manhattan court order for non-payment on the leased vehicle.  This comes on the heels of the foreclosure of two Tribeca condos with a mortgage of $7.3 million for non-payment.  Soources say that Dash faces a bill of $2.1 million with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, $4,500 owed to the state for workers' compensation as well as a lawsuit saying he hasn't paid a law firm that were handling his child custody case.  Lesson to be learnt - money does run out and a few bad breaks can make all the difference...
