07.03-OFFICIAL DRAKE "BEST I EVER HAD" VIDEO

Though this song seems like it's many years old now, from being ran in the ground, Drake has finally released his Kanye West Directed video to the song, and we must say...well, um, conceptually, the video has nothing to do with the song, but the song is still an awesome one...anyway, you be the judge...

07.03-WILLIE D PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO WIRE FRAUD
Geto Boys rapper Willie D has pleaded not guilty to 40 counts of wire fraud. Willie D was arrested back in May for allegedly running an iPhone scam. The Houston MC is said to have taken bulk orders for the popular device from international clients via eBay before sending out false tracking numbers for packages that didn't arrive. Willie is currently free on bond but has had to give up his passport and is not able to use the Internet. Willie D is due to go to a pre-trial hearing on July 27th and, if convicted, faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and a fine of $250,000.  Willie D is an OG in the game, and we certainly hope this isn't true...

07.03-RIHANNA'S ILLEGAL TATTOO SESSION
Rihanna is to be investigated by NYPD after she was video taped tattooing an umbrella and her initials on three people at East Side Ink in New York. Rihanna could face three misdemeanors, with penalties upto $300 for the first offense, $500 for the second and $1,000 for the third. The tattoo shop could also face considerable fines as the NYC Health Department said, "Only licensed tattoo artists can administer tattoos in the city according to the City's Health Code. We are sending someone down to follow up on this." We don't expect Rihanna to have been aware - but the tattoo parlour should have known, surely?

07.03-R KELLY CLEARED
While there have been denials from police departments it seems that there was nothing to worry about in the latest investigation into the affairs of R Kelly. The singer was said to be under investigation by Illinois police in connection to a relationship with a 17-year-old girl (legally acceptable in the state). It was said that authorities were investigating whether any sexual activity took place before the unnamed girl's 17th birthday. "(We) were informed of a possible criminal matter. We investigated the issues, found there to be no crime, and the matters have been closed," Chief Jeff Chudwin said. All good then... Nothing to see here....his past does seem like it is going to haunt him forever.

07.03-MICHAEL JACKSON LATEST
Michael Jackson's ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, has made a u-turn and demanded, "I want my children." Rowe's attorney Eric M. George seemed somewhat in the dark about the change of heart, saying, "So why today's announcement? Because though Debbie herself had not spoken publically about the custody proceedings since Michael's death, I came to learn this morning that she shared some of her thoughts late last night with a local reporter," adding, "I have no reason to doubt what was reported from that conversation was accurately and ethically reported." George then added an air of caution, saying, "But that said, it would be a distortion of the truth to allow that single snapshot of a single conversation to stand as the truth of Debbie's position on these sensitive matters. So once again, the truth is that Debbie has not reached a final decision." Rowe had already said sahe would seek a restraining order to keep Michael Jackson's father, Joe, away from the children. Debbie Rowe has admitted that she is still grieving but stated, "I am stepping up, I have to." Speaking on her decision to seek custody of two of Michael's three children (the youngest is not hers) and Michael's death Rowe said, "We had an agreement... he didn't keep his end." Michael Jackson's will had signed the custody of the children over to his mother, Katherine and named Diana Ross as the guardian should Katherine pass away. The will also left Rowe out of any inheritance, stating, "I have intentionally omitted to provide for my former wife, Deborah Jean Rowe Jackson." So why the u-turn from Rowe who, eight years ago, said, "I had the children for him [Michael]. They wouldn't be on this planet if it wasn't for my love for him. I did it for him to become a father, not for me to become a mother. You earn the title 'parent." I have done absolutely nothing to earn that title." Sounds like she still hasn't - but with Jackson's children looking to be major beneficiaries of his inheritance, could it be that Rowe has decided to step up and get hers through her children?
@
In other Michael Jackson news, his brother, Jermaine, spoke out on the singer's untimely death. Older brother Jermaine said, "He went too soon. I don't know how people are going to take this, but I wish it was me." Jermaine said he was like Michael's "backbone" as he continued, "I wanted to be there for him. I was there and he was sort of like molded. Things he couldn't say, I would say them. During the trials, during everything ..." Jermaine said that when he rushed to UCLA Medical Center, where his younger brother was pronounced dead, "I wanted to see Michael, and I wanted to see my brother, and see him there lifeless and breathless was very emotional for me, but I held myself together, because I know he's very much alive," Jermaine continued, "His spirit is, and that was just a shell, but I kissed him on his forehead and I hugged him, and I touched him and I said, `Michael, I'll never leave you. You'll never leave me.'" Such testimony helps us remember that amid the media fuss there is still a very real family tragedy.
@
Quincy Jones has also been stepping up to the interviews with Vogue speaking to him after Michael Jackson's death - a portion of which has hit the Internet:

Interviewer: You were there to witness the strange evolution in Michael's appearance. Did you ever step in and saying anything about it?

Interviewer: But it must've been so disturbing to see Michael's face turn into what it turned into.
Quincy: It's ridiculous, man! Chemical peels and all of it. And I don't understand it. But he obviously didn't want to be black.

Interviewer: Is that what it was?
Quincy: Well, what do you think? You see his kids?

Interviewer: Did you ever discuss it? Did you ever ask, "Michael, don't you want to be a black man?"
Quincy: No, no, no, please. That's not the way you do it.

Interviewer: But he was beautiful before?
Quincy: Man, he was the most gorgeous guy.

Interviewer: But he seemed to have some deep-seated issue with how he looked?
Quincy: Well, that comes about a certain way. I'm not sure how it happens. I'm just a musician and a record producer. I'm not a psychiatrist. I don't understand all that stuff. We all got problems. But there's a great book out called Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart. Did you see that? That book says the statute of limitations has expired on all childhood traumas. Get your stuff together and get on with your life, man. Stop whinin' about what's wrong, because everybody's had a rough time, in one way or another.

At least Quincy was prepared to step up and talk straight, perhaps more people should have done this while Jackson was still alive...
@
Finally for now, AEG and reps for the Jackson family have announced that a memorial service is to be held for Michael Jackson at the Staples Center on Tuesday at 10:00. 11,000 tickets are to be handed out to the public free of charge - a press conference is to be held to make an official announcement.

Quincy: Oh, we talked about it all the time. But he'd come up with, "Man, I promise you I have this disease," and so forth, and "I have a blister on my lungs," and all that kind of b.s. It's hard, because Michael's a Virgo, man—he's very set in his ways. You can't talk him out of it. Chemical peels and all that stuff.

Interviewer: Did you believe him about the disease?
Quincy: I don't believe in any of that bullsh*t, no. No. Never. I've been around junkies and stuff all my life. I've heard every excuse. It's like smokers—"I only smoke when I drink" and all that stuff. But it's bullsh*t. You're justifying something that's destructive to your existence. It's crazy. I mean, I came up with Ray Charles, man. You know, nobody gonna pull no wool over my eyes. He did heroin 20 years! Come on. And black coffee and gin for 40 years. But when he called me to come over to see him when he was in the hospital on his way out, man, he had emphysema, hepatitis C, cirrhosis of the liver, and five malignant tumors. Please, man! I've been around this all my life. So it's hard for somebody to pull the wool over my eyes. But when somebody's hell-bent on it, you can't stop 'em.

07.02-DOES THIS LOOK LIKE THE FACE OF A MOURNING PARENT?

This guy...that's why Michael Jackson had the last laugh in his will-we, personally, wouldn't have left him a used string...We all grieve differently, but this man doesn't seem like he isn't grieving at all...we all reap what we sew...only God can judge him...but we hope that he's at least remorseful for the negative role that he played in MJ's life...sure he helped Michael acquire the fame, but he also tourtured the poor man, too...

07.02-CONFUSION REIGNS OVER NEW R KELLY INVESTIGATION

Conflicting reports are flying around detailing an investigation into R Kelly by the Illinois police for committing statutory rape due to a relationship with a 17 year old girl. A person close to R Kelly claims that police came to R Kelly’s home looking for evidence that he is in a relationship with the unnamed 17 year old. While the age of consent in Illinois is 17 police are apparently keen to establish that Kelly didn't engage in sexual relations before her 17th birthday. However, Olympia Fields Police Department are denying that there is any investigation into R Kelly. To complicate matters further Det. Michael Mayden is said to have confirmed that an investigation is "ongoing" into R Kelly with authorities planning on questioning R Kelly when he returns from South Africa. Reports also say that a "family friend" of R Kelly is claiming that the investigation is indeed regarding a relationship with a 17 year old girl...

HOWEVER, Grindmodeconnect.com received an e-mail from his publicist at the Jive Record Label, issued from Kelly on last night:

R. KELLY RESPONDS TO INACCURATE INTERNET REPORT

  • CHICAGO – July 1, 2009 – A representative of recording artist R. Kelly released the following statement in response to an inaccurate Internet report about a supposed police search of his house in the Chicago suburb of Olympia Fields.

“A wildly exaggerated and inaccurate report has been circulating on the Internet that Olympia Fields police showed up at R. Kelly’s house with a search warrant just before the singer left for his three-week concert tour in Africa last month and then searched the place looking for a missing 17-year-old girl.

“This is completely false.  No police ever showed up at Kelly’s house with a search warrant nor was his house ever searched. It is also not true, as the unsubstantiated report claimed, that any such girl ever stayed overnight in Kelly’s house or that she had been there but left shortly before some mythical police search.

“Kelly’s attorneys will cooperate fully with any investigation.”

07.02-QUINCY TO SAVE VIBE?

Word has it that Quincy Jones is looking to step up and try to save the Vibe franchise. Quincy sold Vibe in 2006 but he is now said to be looking to buy the ailing company back and concentrate on it's non-print arms, saying, "Print and all that stuff is over, we gotta remember that," Jones said. "The Chicago Tribune, The Seattle Post Intelligencer. The Miami Herald. They’re over the same way as the record business. We have got to get into this century."

We at Grind Mode Magazine, knew this a long time ago, about getting into this century.

07.02-MICHAEL JACKSON DEVELOPING NEWS

In today's Michael Jackson news update there is news on the will that was filed in Los Angeles court and word that a federal investigation is to commence looking at the nature of the singer's death, while elsewhere there are questions over a memorial service for the late pop star.
@
The circumstances surrounding Michael Jackson's death have become a federal issue, with the Drug Enforcement Administration asked to help police take a look at the pop star's doctors and possible drug use.
Following Jackson's death, allegations emerged that the 50-year-old King of Pop had been consuming painkillers, sedatives and antidepressants.
The DEA was asked to help the probe by the Los Angeles Police Department, a law enforcement official in Washington told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation.
The federal agency can provide resources and experience in investigating drug abuse, illicit drug manufacturers known as "pill mills" and substances local police may not be familiar with, the official said Wednesday.
While the investigation into the singer's death deepened, passionate Michael Jackson fans spent another day in an uneasy limbo, awaiting word from the King of Pop's camp about where and when a memorial service might be held for their hero — and if they're even invited.
Speculation about the potential location of a memorial ricocheted during the day from the Staples Center to the Los Angeles Coliseum to the Nokia Theater.
One spot that was ruled out as an immediate memorial venue was Jackson's sprawling Neverland ranch in Santa Barbara County. Jackson family spokesman Ken Sunshine said a public memorial was in the works for Jackson but it wouldn't be held at Neverland.
That came as a blow to many Jackson fans who had already descended on the estate in the rolling hills near Santa Barbara with the hope of attending a public viewing.
"We're terribly disappointed," said Ida Barron, 44, who arrived with her husband Paul Barron, 56, intending to spend several days in a tent.
It appeared more likely that a funeral and burial would take place in Los Angeles, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press.
Many of Jackson's die-hard fans refused to believe that the family would bury their most famous son without acknowledging the supporters who helped propel him to superstardom.
"I can't believe they wouldn't do something for his fans," said Rosie Padron, who had roped off a spot just outside the Neverland gates. "Michael loved his fans."
New Yorkers weren't willing to wait. The weekly Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater turned into a Jackson celebration, with impersonators emulating his outfits and mimicking his dance moves.
Allison Hector, who wore a T-shirt with the image of the "Thriller" album cover, ecstatically emulated moves she learned watching Jackson's music videos.
"Nobody moves like him," the 19-year-old said, her eyes filling with tears. "I feel it in my blood — I just can't help it!"
On the legal front, Jackson's 7-year-old will was filed Wednesday in a Los Angeles court, giving his entire estate to a family trust and naming his 79-year-old mother Katherine and his three children as beneficiaries. The will also estimates the current value of his estate at more than $500 million.
Katherine Jackson was appointed the children's guardian, with entertainer Diana Ross, a longtime friend of Michael Jackson, named successor guardian if something happens to his mother. A court will ultimately decide who the children's legal guardian will be.
Jackson's lawyer John Branca and family friend John McClain, a music executive, were named in the will as co-executors of his estate. In a statement, they said the most important element of the will was Jackson's steadfast desire that his mother become the legal guardian for his children.
"As we work to carry out Michael's instructions to safeguard both the future of his children as well as the remarkable legacy he left us as an artist, we ask that all matters involving his estate be handled with the dignity and the respect that Michael and his family deserve," the statement said.
The will doesn't name father Joe Jackson to any position of authority in administering the estate. Also shut out is ex-wife Debbie Rowe, the mother of his two oldest children.
The executors moved quickly to take control of all of Michael Jackson's property, going to court hours after filing the will to challenge a previous ruling that gave Katherine Jackson control of 2,000 items from Neverland.
Paul Gordon Hoffman, an attorney for the executors, told Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff his clients are the proper people to take over Jackson's financial affairs. He called Katherine Jackson's speed in getting limited power over her son's property "a race to the courthouse that is, frankly, improper."
Judge Beckloff urged attorneys from both sides to try to reach a compromise. A hearing on the estate was set for Monday.
The will, dated July 7, 2002, gives the entire estate to the Michael Jackson Family Trust. Details of the trust will not be made public.
Jackson owns a 50 percent stake in the massive Sony-ATV Music Publishing Catalog, which includes music by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers.
Jackson, who died June 25 at age 50, left behind three children: son Michael Joseph Jr., known as Prince Michael, 12; daughter Paris Michael Katherine, 11; and son Prince Michael II, 7. Rowe was the mother of the two oldest children; the youngest was born to a surrogate mother, who has never been identified.
Rowe, who was married to Jackson in 1996 and filed for divorce three years later, surrendered her parental rights. An appeals court later found that was done in error, and Rowe and Jackson entered an out-of-court settlement in 2006.
Neither Rowe nor her attorneys have indicated whether she intends to seek custody of the two oldest children.

07.02-TAMEKA DIDN'T SEE DIVORCE ON THE HORIZON?
Can it be that Tameka Foster didn't see the impending divorce from husband, Usher, on the horizon - despite having been separated for over a year? That's what her attorney is claiming in documents filed in an Atlanta court. It has been said that the two were "intimately together" less than a week before divorce proceedings began and that Tameka had "every reason to believe her marriage was intact." Tameka is now looking for Usher to pay all of her legal fees in relation to their split and continue to support his family financially. Could it be that Tameka got 'sex' mixed up with 'love?' Seems Usher didn't...love hurts, and most people stay in denial...

In the United States, the number is powered by a SayNow, a technology company that enables stars to use a dedicated number to interact with calls. In the UK however, the number rings to the home of Gerry Matley and Catriona Howard Smith...

Revenue had seen a 40% decline from last year while circulation had also fallen from 800,000 to 600,000 issues with the magazine also dropping from 12 issues a year to just 10. 07.01-JAY-Z TALKS ON ROC NATION
Jay-Z has spoken out on his Roc Nation deal saying, "Sony is Roc Nation. That's where Roc Nation's going through. [via Atlantic,] that's pretty much just for this specific album. Roc Nation - we're experts in marketing and making records. But we do distribution deals. On this one, we're working directly with Atlantic staff, which is Julie [Greenwald], Lyor [Cohen], Kevin [Liles] and [Mike] Kyser. For the rest of the Roc Nation artists, we did a distribution deal with Sony...You have to figure, this is like four years ago [when I approached Def Jam with the same deal idea] and to them it was just like, 'Are you crazy? No! Make a song!' To me it was like, I've sold companies for huge amounts of money. I'm an entrepreneur - that's what I've been all my life. I can't just sit here and make records and not do anything else. Why wouldn't you want to do this with me? I felt under-utilized." Jay-Z continued, thanking Def Jam, ""I'm ready, I got the foundation and I'm ready to blast off. I'm pretty much at the launching pad right now. I bought my album back, I overpaid for it because I believe at this point in my career, you know, I wanted to be totally independent and free. Def Jam and Universal did a beautiful thing, they let me pay, they overcharged me a little bit, but I appreciate all the years they put into my career...I'm working with Atlantic, they gonna distribute the album. They're doing a fantastic job and by the way, I get a chance to connect with the people I started my career with."

07.01-PUFFY ASKS FOR SOME RESPECT
Puff Daddy went a little 'Off The Wall' at a Michael Jackson tribute party on Saturday night when guests including Taraji P. Henson, Wesly Snipes and Queen Latifah refused to show what he felt was due reverence in mourning Jackson's demise. Sources say that Puff flipped out while Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror' was playing and switched the music off before shouting, "While you guys are talking and laughing, you're not hearing his words. You're not listening to his words. I need you to hear what he's saying! Listen to the message that he is telling us." He then is said to have put the music back on at full volume while hollering, "Michael, I hear your words -- I hear what you're saying!" over the top. Too much 'party' it seems...

07.01-MICHAEL JACKSON NEWS
In today's update of Michael Jackson news it has emerged that Michael was not the biological parent of any of his three children (surely no surprises there?), while Debbie Rowe was not the biological mother of the two children she bore for the King of Pop. They children were conceived outside the womb and then Rowe carried and gave birth to them. In the case of the the third of Jackson's children, the surrogate was not told of the identity of the "receiving parent" - Michael Jackson and it was Jackson's lawyer who arrived at the hospital to take the child home.

In other news the drug Propofol was discovered after a search of Michael Jackson's home. The drug is used to put people under anesthesia before surgery and is an extremely powerful drug that is only available to medical personnel. A source said, "There is no conceivable way this drug can be properly prescribed for home use." One of the major side-effects of Propofol is cardiac arrest if it's taken in combination with narcotic painkillers, however, Propofol is so powerful it can stop someone's heart on its own with a nurse revealing that she previously refused to provide the singer with Diprivan - a Propofol brand. Jackson had asked for the drug to treat insomnia. In another twist Jackson was found with the drug Lidocaine near his body - this drug is used to reduce the burning pain associated with a Propofol injection. Sources say Propofol is so inappropriate and reckless for home use that if a doctor gave it to Jackson, he or she could be prosecuted for manslaughter.

06.30-JAY-Z SHUTS DOWN CHRIS BROWN AT BET?

Reports are suggesting that Jay-Z shut down Chris Brown's BET performance by threatening to boycott the show himself if Chris was allowed to perform. Jay-Z is also alleged to have said that his wife, Beyonce, would not perform if Chris was allowed to. While Al Sharpton was said to have a hand in the cancellation as well it certainly looks like Jay-Z is still bitter about the Rihanna affair... This has not pleased Chris however with a friend saying, "He’s furious, BET asked him to perform and waited until the last minute to tell him it was off. He’s pretty shocked and outraged right now."

Yeah, we think this was foul, if it's true...NO ONE would have given a tribute to Mike like Chris Brown...he has ALL of his moves in tact, and he did an amazing job on the James Brown Tribute...that's OK, 'cause one of the more mainstream awards show are going to swoop him up...Jay being a business man, knows that this is a business, man...

06.30-ALL MICHAEL JACKSON RELATED NEWS
As expected, shocking details about Michael Jackson are beginning to emerge following his untimely death. Reports are saying that he was in a much worse physical state than many anticipated at the time of his death with his emaciated body riddled with needle marks and scars, and his head virtually bald. Reports say that Jackson weighed just 112 pounds when he died and his stomach was found to be completely empty except for partially dissolved pills. His hips, thighs and shoulders were covered with needle wounds, believed to have come from shots of painkillers, and he was wearing a wig when he was found because his hair had been reduced to a "peach fuzz" on his scalp, the report said. "He was skin and bone, his hair had fallen out, and he had been eating nothing but pills when he died," a source close to the singer's entourage revealed, adding, "Injection marks all over his body and the disfigurement caused by years of plastic surgery show he'd been in terminal decline for some years." There were four fresh injections around his heart, presumably from attempts to pump adrenaline in and start it beating once more. Reprots revealed that three of them had penetrated and damaged his heart wall, while a fourth struck his ribs. Not unusually, he also sustained several broken ribs while authorities administered CPR during his final moments. Jackson had one spot above his left ear that was scarred and completely bald - the apparent result of burns sustained when his hair caught fire while he was filming a Pepsi commercial in 1984 - as well as numerous other scars, apparently from plastic surgery. In addition, he had bruises on his knees and shins and cuts on his back, most likely caused by a recent fall. Jackson has had two autopsies performed on him: one by the Los Angeles coroner and a private one requested by the family with the leaked details coming from the official autopsy. Meanwhile a Jackson family confidant revealed that the singer's private doctor performed the CPR on a dying Jackson in the wrong manner - saying that Michael was placed on a bed despite the belief that compressions for cardiopulmonary resuscitation must be performed on a hard surface. The source said, "Michael was on the floor first, and they put him on the bed, and then started compressions on the bed," adding, "What kind of doctor is that?" In a transcript of the 911 call, the person seeking help says Jackson is "on the bed" and the dispatcher then replied, "OK, let's get him down to the floor. Edward Chernoff, a lawyer for Jackson's doctor, said Jackson was found in his bed with a faint pulse. However, as expected with the ever-controversial Michael Jackson other sources are saying that the autopsy results as leaked are fake, with a statement from The Los Angeles County coroner saying, "The report that is being published did not come from this office. I don't know where the information came from, or who that information came from. It is not accurate. Some of it is totally false." Some of it?

In other Michael Jackson news Jordan Chandler, the boy who accused the late singer of molesting him back in 1993, has allegedly said it was all a lie. In a shocking revelation Chandler revealed, "Now for the first time I can’t bare to lie anymore. Michael Jackson didn’t do anything to me, all was my father lies (sic) to escape from being poor." In 1993, Chandler told a psychiatrist and police that he and Jackson had engaged in sexual acts that included oral sex, the boy gave detailed description of Jackson’s genitals. The case was settled out of court for a reported $22 million, but the strain led Jackson to begin taking painkillers to which he eventually became addicted. Chandler apparently continued, "I never meant to lie and destroy Michael Jackson but my father made me to tell only lies. Now I can’t tell Michael how much I’m sorry and if he will forgive me ." There are, however, doubts as to the reliability of the sources for this controversial story.

Also speaking out was the former nanny of Michael Jackson's kids, Grace Rwaramba, 42. Grace revealed that she was aware of Michael Jackson's prescription drug use saying that, "I had to pump his stomach many times. He always mixed so much of it," adding, "There was one period that it was so bad that I didn't let the children see him. He always ate too little and mixed too much." She also spoke on Jackson's finances, revealing, "Michael had no idea about money," Rwaramba said, before referring to a $1 million offer he received to appear in Japan, "By the time everyone took their share he ended up with $200,000." According to Rwaramba, the day after Michael died, his mother Katherine called her from Michael's Holmby Hills house and asked where he kept his cash, "She said, 'Grace, the children are crying. They are asking about you. They can't believe that their father died. Grace, you remember Michael used to hide cash at the house. I am here. Where can it be?" Rwaramba told her to look "at the garbage bags and under the carpets." Then, said the former nanny, "She said, 'Grace, where are you? Come. I will pick you up from the airport.' She sounded so strong. So strong!" Rwaramba was fired from Jackson's employ in December last year, although she had been fired and rehired in the past after questioning Jackson's drug use.

In other news. Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine, has been granted temporary custody of Michael's three children and looks set to benefit from Jackson's will. While some sources had said that Michael did not have a will written up, attorney John Branca has a 2002 will and plans to file it with the court within 30 days of the singer's death. According to the will, Jackson reportedly left his estate - estimated at $1 billion - to his mother, 3 children and one or more charities. Father Joe Jackson, meanwhile has seemingly been left out with sources saying it was because he beat Michael as a child.

06.29-DEMEROL DOSE SAID TO BE LIKELY CAUSE OF MICHAEL JACKSON'S DEATH
"Demerol has a tremendous amount of side effects," Dr. Patrick Annello, an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist at St. Francis Hospital on Long Island SAID, "It can cause rapid heart rate, arrhythmias — and given in high enough doses — it can cause respiratory depression or shallow breathing." A source has revealed that these symptoms were present in Michael Jackson after he was given an injection of the drug, "After taking the Demerol, he started to experience slow, shallow breathing," the source revealed, "His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped." Reports have also suggested that Michael Jackson was taking other prescription drugs including antidepressants. Dr. Annello went on to explain that a cocktail of antidepressants and Demerol can cause a hypertensive reaction and the patient can have a heart attack and stroke as a result. In addition to this, a dangerous reaction can be triggered if Demerol is administered while a patient is taking other narcotic pain medications, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxers, or other medications that can make them sleepy or slow respiratory function. Brian Oxman, the Jackson family attorney, confirmed Jackson’s use of other medications as he explained how they had hampered rehearsals for Jackson's scheduled spate of London shows, "His injuries, which he had sustained performing, where he had broken a vertebra and he had broken his leg from a fall on the stage, were getting in the way," Oxman added, "I do not know the extent of the medications that he was taking." This is looking likely as the cause of death - but until the full reports are released we can still only speculate. Hopwever, if it is found that a Demerol overdose was the cause of death then this is truly tragic as an opioid antagonist, such as Narcan, that would have reversed the effects of a Demerol overdose. Chances are Jackson would be alive today if he had received a dose of Narcan immediately upon the onset of symptoms such as respiratory distress, dangerously low blood pressure and sedation. However, as an added twist the lawyer working for Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, revealed that he did not prescribe or administer Demerol to the star. Further to this the lawyer, Edward Chernoff, revealed that when Murray went to Jackson the singer had a pulse, saying, "He just happened to find him in his bed, and he wasn't breathing. Mr. Jackson was still warm and had a pulse."

I think everybody remembers hearing his songs, watching him moonwalk on television during Motown's 25th anniversary.
